About Look Up
Originally written as a poem, Look Up is inspired by the modern-day technology addiction crisis that extends across every generation, race, gender and community. The poem forces us to confront the addiction and ask ourselves a stream of thought-provoking and developmentally-relevant questions: Is it really possible to be fully present in the here and now? What constructs our realities? Is what we see on-screen representative of those realities? What are we missing out on as we constantly look down?
Over The Rainbow Entertainment is looking to bring this inspiring poem to life as both a feature film and a stage play. The film will feature vignettes of stories (à la New Year's Day and Valentine's Day), where the lives of strangers are all secretly intertwined through technology, voyeurism and morality.
Excerpt from Look Up
Look up the world is dancing by
And she waits for on no one
Look up Change is happening all around
Submerged, sucked in by a sexxy black box
Beep, click, ring, chat, tweet, text, post until your ears burn, fingers ache, eyes blur, and cheeks flush - every moment every day all day long
Can we actually see what is happening in real time anymore
Look up your baby is crying
Bling Bling strollers on the streets, mothers on smartphones, talking, texting as they cross through red lights and stop signs – heavy traffic ahead, but wait NO
