It's hard enough navigating her teen years in NYC. Now throw in the fact Sam is smart, talented, beautiful and homeless. The chance to survive with her mind, body and soul intact is near impossible. With the odds stacked against her; a homeless teen discovers that love and music, will be her road to shelter and so much more.

This story begins in the 1990's RENT ERA of NYC and crash through the social media blitz of 2014. Sam is a driven, homeless teenager who attends the most dangerous school in the city. Her once privileged troubled alcoholic mother is unreliable but full of love, and their close bond helps them make it through many of life's 'out of their control' challenges. When Sam learns that she's been accepted into one of the best Charter high schools in the city, she knows a better education is her ticket out of their dark and unstable world and becomes more determined than ever. At the new school, Sam quickly learns that hiding her homelessness is trickier than expected. Sam is faced with the challenge of using music to forge a new path for herself and her mom without having life's essential needs met.

LOVE MUSIC SHELTER brings together the high school angst of the Oscar winning film "Stand and Deliver", the seamless musical style of the 1V show "Empire", and some of the tragic beginnings seen in the Oscar winning movie "Precious" to illustrate our tenacious heroine's break from the unjust madness that is the NYC homeless situation.

The film will feature real shelters, runaway intakes centers, soup kitchens and iconic locations in and around New York City. The film's inclusion of both found footage and scripted scenes will shove its gritty, stylized fantastical tone in your face. We will get up close and personal with the reality of today's homeless teens and the people that help make a difference in their world.
